Solutions Architect Lead

As a Lead Solutions Architect at Compass Inc., you will partner closely with the sales and delivery teams to understand customer business objectives and translate them into scalable, secure, and high-impact AWS-based solutions. You will play a strategic role across the customer lifecycle, from pre-sales to delivery oversight, acting as a trusted technical advisor and executive sponsor for key clients.

This role also includes driving technical standards, supporting complex engagements, mentoring the Solutions Architect team, and strengthening Compass Inc.’s technical credibility with AWS and customers. Additionally, you will contribute to thought leadership initiatives and represent the company at industry events.

• Partner with sales and customers to translate business goals into well-architected AWS solutions aligned with best practices;
• Lead the creation of detailed Statements of Work (SOWs), including scope definition, assumptions, deliverables, and success criteria;
• Act as an executive sponsor and trusted advisor for strategic customers, fostering long-term partnerships and ensuring successful outcomes;
• Establish and guide technical standards across solution design and delivery to ensure quality, scalability, and customer satisfaction;
• Engage directly in complex or high-risk projects, providing hands-on guidance and technical oversight;
• Support and mentor the Solutions Architect team, guiding them through changes in AWS services, Compass offerings, and go-to-market strategies;
• Ensure strong alignment between sales and technical teams, enabling effective pre-sales and delivery execution;
• Support customer and AWS escalations, addressing technical and delivery challenges as they arise;
• Build and maintain technical credibility with AWS through in-person engagements, business reviews, case studies, and joint initiatives;
• Contribute to thought leadership through blogs, case studies, roundtables, and participation in industry events.

• Hands-on experience designing solutions involving generative AI, machine learning, and data analytics;
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in technical roles, with at least 3 years in a professional services or consulting environment at an AWS or cloud consulting partner;
• Experience with application modernization, including microservices, containerization, and cloud-native architectures;
• Prior hands-on experience supporting or leading delivery engagements as a Solutions Architect;
• Experience working closely with AWS field teams and partner ecosystems.
• Proven ability to translate customer business requirements into scalable AWS architectures and to develop comprehensive Statements of Work;
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders;

At Compass Inc, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for a Solutions Architect Lead is from $200k to $250k per year + 20% Bonus tied to key services metrics.
